Description

Headed by Executive Officer Rindle and gifted responsibility for the security and defence of Ashmuth (Nation) and all internal interests of the nation by order of the royal household. The Sovereign Watch act as law keepers and as a defensive army, patrolling the streets and roads, manning the walls and towers, as well as watching the nations borders.

Whilst Ashmuth (City) is not renown for violent crime, the city sees plenty of outsiders coming off the many ships and boats that visit it's harbour each day, as well as those that come through the OTA harbour near by. The watch must remain vigilant for contraband and smuggling as well as other trade related crimes including tax evasion and profiteering.

Ignoring the seedier side of trade, Salaige is a dangerous land and Ashendel is no exception to this. The Sovereign Watch is responsible for controlling the population of monstrous and predatory creatures within it's borders, as well as enforcing and upholding Ashmuth's Laws.

Structure

The order is controlled by an executive officer and high noble, who delegates over several Captains, each in control of a region of the city or surrounding area with wide discretion on how they manage their organisation and within region or branch. This can cause some issues when it comes to staff transfers, but typically allows the captain to tailor the service rendered to the immediate needs of the area it is based in.

History

Starting life as the Ashmuth town watch in 197 AE, the watch would grow along with it's city until outside influences forced its expansion into a defensive force sometime between 400 and 500 AE when the soverenty at the time realised they could not hand the defence of it's borders over to mercenaries alone. Since that time, the order has played the role of peacekeeper both domestically and at the borders, not forgetting the resources and additional man power afforded by the nations association with the OTA.
