A Call from the Umbral Expanse
Lirithyn receives a supernatural summons from his father through his bracelet, Vaeral his father, calling out from within the Umbral Expanse. Lirithyn answers the call and meets him there, learning that Vaeral has been framed and set up as by his former partners. all to do with Vaeral's newly made bracelet that resembles Lir's. For nearly a week, Vaeral has survived by hiding within the Expanse itself.
Vaeral learns Lir is not on the main land, and instead is on a prison camp on Fort Joy, an island with a cruelly ironic title meant to mock its new inhabitants. He learns that his son is collared with a anti-source collar.
Lir hears from his father that he created this bracelet with his work partners in order for him to have something to bond with his son over, a place for them to hunt and be together. He also learns that Vaeral's mother, Lir's Grandmother has turned Lir in, and just days later died of an illness, before Vaeral could question her.
Vaeral reveals that the ones responsible for his downfall are Ilvyn and Meryn Berren his former partners. They have turned on him, framed him, so they could run away with the money and a clear name. Desperate to clear his name and protect what remains of his legacy, Vaeral demands that Lir finds a way out of the prison camp and get back on main land. As a last resort Lirithyn gets tasked by his father kill Ilvyn, Meryn, and any member of the Berren family.
What Lirithyn does not know is that Brynn, one of his companions, is their daughter.
While Lir believes his father, there is something that Vaeral is hiding from his son.
Flint’s Dream: Echoes of Countless Lives
Flint is pulled into a deeply unsettling dream that fractures across many lifetimes and identities.
While last time Fang dreamed of him in a previous life being The dream shows Fang as a Dragonborn undergoing the Trial of Ascension to become King of the Dradeorin Dynasty. Flint himself appeared in a small flash in Fangs dream as a female Aarakocra scholar studying within a vast library.
While this dream slowly lets Flint enter this Aarakocra's mind the dream shifts.
- The vision shifts to a dwarven boy dying as a collapsing wooden beam crushes him.
- Another shift shows an elderly man whose daughter is taken away after being discovered to carry Source, followed by the man later dying alone of starvation and dehydration.
- Another vision shows a ginger-haired woman falling into the Vidisk Ocean, strongly implying Lohse.
-This is followed by the image of a baby in a cradle.
-Another life appears as a half-orc hunter being mortally charged by a boar.
-Many more fleeting lives and deaths blur together after this.
The final vision centers on a baker. Through the baker’s eyes, Flint sees himself as a seven-year-old child. As the baker clutches his chest and dies, the dream abruptly ends. Upon waking, Flint recalls that this baker died three years after retiring.
After waking, Flint speaks with Fang, who confirms that he once lived as a half-orc hunter killed by a boar, reinforcing that the dream showed real past lives rather than symbolism.
Later, Flint witnesses ghosts wandering the camp, all wearing Source-suppressing collars, suggesting the island is deeply connected to death, memory, and trapped souls.
Brynn and the Demon’s Bargain
Brynn awakens early to find Lohse sitting atop the group’s chest. Lohse reveals herself to be a demon and, under a Zone of Truth, explains that she was sent by her master, Nyx’vathis, to watch over Brynn specifically.
Lohse reveals she has asked for more power from Nyx'vathis giving up her arm, in the process. thus becoming stronger. Being able to keep the others in a stunned like state to have a private conversation.
Lohse demands that Brynn eventually speak directly with Nyx’vathis. If Brynn refuses, Lohse threatens to make Brynn’s life and the lives of those around her extremely difficult.
Rather than submit, Brynn negotiates.
The agreement reached is that Brynn will protect Lohse’s identity and may help her acquire a new body in the future.
In return, Lohse will actively watch over Brynn and ensure she does not die.
Brynn will also eventually get to have a conversation with Nyx'vathis, although she does not know when.
Unease in the Camp and a Delayed Truth
Brynn, Flint, and Fang discuss growing concern about Lirithyn, sensing a change in him they cannot yet explain. And with everything going on.
Meanwhile, Lirithyn and Myriany speak with the dwarven group consisting of Pissboots, Misselle Steelhead, Beast, and Ironbrow. Still heavily drunk, the dwarves promise to stand with the party if the magisters make a move against them.
Myriany also gives Lir two potions. One being a bad potion, and one being a good potion, but so far she has not reached the conclusion what they exactly do. She has not yet found the right ingredients to make health potions. As of yet.
Azura is totally ready for the ritual meant to uncover the fate of her parents. Knowing the truth and wanting to protect Azura, Brynn postpones the ritual by sending Azura to gather specific shells and flowers. The ritual is delayed until the evening, and Myriany stays close to Azura. Flint disagrees with Brynn's continual lying to Azura to protect her.
Summoned Before High Judge Orivand
Magister Eva arrives with others and demands that Flint, Fang, Brynn, and Lirithyn accompany them to High Judge Orivand to once again explain the events surrounding Lohse.
Tensions rise when Misselle Steelhead, heavily drunk, throws a tankard at Magister Chance. As a result, she is brought along as well, willingly walking ahead to see what is going on inside the fort.
Inside the fort, the party explains that Lohse attempted to flee the evening gathering, cast magic on Flint, vanished into the ground, and left her clothing behind and her blackened eyes. When Orivand orders Eva to retrieve the clothing, it has completely disappeared, raising suspicion even among the magisters.
Silent Monks and the Void Unleashed
Amused by the party’s defiance, Orivand suddenly casts a spell at Flint. Flint avoids the spell, and it strikes Misselle instead. Her smile fades, her arms fall limp, and her mouth is magically sewn shut. She is turned into a Silent Monk.
Orivand casts the spell again. This time it rebounds from Flint and strikes Magister Chance, transforming him into a Silent Monk as well.
The second spell tears open reality itself, allowing void creatures to pour into the chamber. Among them emerges a massive Void Screecher, its bones cracking and reshaping as it moves.
The Silent Monks, now under Orivand’s control, attack the void creatures alongside the magisters and the party.
The Screecher drags Brynn halfway into the ground, trapping her. Dragar, conflicted but decisive, smashes the surrounding earth, freeing her.
The Void Screecher is eventually destroyed, dissolving into a pool of void. During the chaos, Brynn collapses unconscious.
As Fang carries Brynn back to camp, Orivand coldly tells Lirithyn that they will not remember their little dwarven friend.
The Erasure of Misselle
Back at camp, Flint places Brynn’s unconscious body near Jaylienne’s kitchen, drawing a crowd of prisoners. Flint recounts what happened inside the fort, including the Silent Monk spell, the void creatures, and Misselle’s fate.
A horrifying realization follows. No one in the camp remembers Misselle. Not the prisoners, not the magisters, and not even the three dwarven men who traveled with her.
In an attempt to prove that she existed, the party leads everyone to the dwarves’ tent. While doubt remains, Jaylienne silently leaves back to her kitchen while the rest of the prisoners go to the dwarves' tent and all confirming that there are four bedrolls inside.
Someone has been erased from memory.
Plans, Paranoia, and a Dark Proposal
To prevent panic, Evan Joyheart, a former magister unfamiliar with Silent Monks, gathers the party, Carmen, Circe, and the three dwarves inside the now-empty magisters tent.
The group discusses escape but realizes that fleeing openly would immediately alert the magisters.
An older prisoner, Varrick Zadiras, arrives unannounced and proposes an extreme solution: systematically killing every magister on the island, one by one.
As the group reviews the events inside the fort, a disturbing theory emerges. The magisters may have the ability to erase memories of those turned into Silent Monks. Only Flint, Fang, Brynn, and Lirithyn still remember Misselle and Chance.
Whether this is because they were present when the spell was cast, because the spell rebounded from Flint, or because something else is protecting their memories remains unclear.
With Orivand’s words lingering in their minds, the group is left with the realization that they may be the only ones who still remember, and that this protection may not last.
