Fort Joy: The Cursed Prison Island

Historical Background

Centuries ago, Braccus Rex ruled E’fa Sylviath from his island near E'fa Sylvagroth with an iron fist, wielding immense power and striking terror into the hearts of his enemies. A self-proclaimed "God-King," he cursed all who opposed him, twisting their souls and bodies into horrifying forms as punishment. His rule was marked by bloodshed, manipulation, and dominance, leaving behind a legacy of cruelty.

The Fall of Braccus Rex:
Legend states that a coalition of mages, warriors, and clergy rose against Braccus Rex, sealing him and his cursed followers on the island. The battle to overthrow him devastated the land, leaving it blighted. Though Braccus himself was defeated, his curse lingered, corrupting the island. For centuries, no one dared to set foot there, as whispers of madness and death surrounded the desolate rock.

The Transformation into Fort Joy

After Wendigo’s attack in Azure Bay, the five cities convened an emergency council. The growing threat of Sourceweavers and the tears in the Void were seen as too great to ignore. Fearing a wider rebellion and further chaos, they voted to exile all Sourceweavers to a single location where their powers could be controlled and monitored.

The abandoned island of Braccus Rex was chosen. Its isolation, cursed history, and harsh environment around the island making escape almost impossible, made it an ideal location for a prison. Thus, the island was renamed Fort Joy, a cruelly ironic title meant to mock its new inhabitants.
