It's unclear to non-eldar scholars if Zhâine was a figmental god or a real individual. To the Tuatha, he was absolutely a warrior of the Dark Days that sailed west to battle back evil.

Either way, he quickly became an embodiment of the dark torments the early dark elves sought to overcome. In accepting their own capacity to do violence, they invented a hero who could both do harm, but also represent their ideals. Over time, this corrupted into a god who was far crueler than all else.

He has had several names throughout his centuries of worship, depending on the language and people regarding him. Zaeryn, Zharine, Zhâine, Sculptor of Anguish, Calaelen.
