As a first step, a creature who haunts the moor (slithering, leaving trails of black grease, must be slain. As reward for this beginning action, he offers 1,500 gp, a fine wagon, and two draft horses from his personal stable.

Retrieve the Crystal Monocle

Retrieve the crystal monocle that once belonged to the ancient gnome Father Mudfoot, who is said to be buried in a temple in the Hauntmoor. In exchange, the Five Fingers of Fate will admit one into their order and give them the choice of one magical item from their stores.

Session Events

Including monsters encountered and treasure collected.

  • The gnome, who turned out to be named Gorfthistle, drew the party a rough map of the shrine and offered 500 gp if they could help him recover Mulvisial (magic sword) and King Bomfluke’s Crown—he agreed to stay put for the time being.

  • The party crept north through a secret passage into the forge room, where they found the sword Mulvisial imbedded in a pool of solid iron—they also found two spears, a gold ingot (100 gp), and an ornate brass ceremonial bell.

  • The party traveled south, lining up with more than a dozen gloop to “present tribute” to Sootmurk; they convinced four gloop to leave and another two to present string instead of their silver (4 sp).

  • Charming one of the gloop guards to open the door, they hurled a fireball into Sootmurks flammable grease filled chamber—killing all inside, including the dragon. (855 xp)

  • The explosion was so big that the shrine began to collapse—Fazmir didn’t make it—as the party escaped outside.

  • They spent a week blazing a trail through the swamp and another returning to Tavern-by-Sisters; there, they collected the reward for completing the quest (1,500 gp).
