Peaking into the next room, the party saw the living dead—partying!
They decided to avoid that situation for now, returning south and turning east, where they failed to disarm the floating clay jar trap, but were clever enough to keep it going off.
Disarmed the next trap, though.
Cleverly lassoed a magical sword (Iron Sword of the Hundred-Years Winter War) away from a skeleton trapped under a cave-in.
Found and freed the fairy-creature Alfwine after killing the two skeletons tormenting her (20 xp), promising her to rid the barrow of the skeletons.
Killed four more skeletons in the next room. (40 xp)
Found the resting place of several knights, who bashed their skulls in rather than being brought back from the dead—one was the true Sir Gallant, who had two realistic glass eyeballs tucked into his stone coffin, which the party took.
Washed clean a tapestry covered in mold, finding a room hidden behind.
Placed the eyes in the statue of Saint Fallow, freeing the three gems from the magical fire to be taken (600 gp), then collected the three tapestries (300 gp).
Killed three skeleton guards (30 xp), taking their key and their tobacco (250 gp).
Used the key to unlock the prison cell, finding the six remaining merchants (clad in mud-spattered purple robes of the sericulturalists guild), promising them to return and free them once the barrow was safe.
Covered the ground outside the main chamber with oil.
Put the necromancer Quintius to sleep, bound and gagged him, claimed his spellbook (sleep) and the Dead Grimioire, and finding a large ruby (1,000 gp).
A skeleton tried to come check on Quintius, seeing the party and attempting to call for help!
