Brother and Sword

Father William has requested you retrieve the dragon slaying sword from Sir Brandon’s barrow mound (and see what has become of Brother Dirk, if time allows). In exchange, he offers blessings (the casting of one cleric spell up to level 3).

Brandonsford Artifact Security

The ghost of Sir Brandon beseeches you to go to Brandonsford, to the crypt below the city, and secure the artifacts being kept safe there. The artifacts once belonged to the Cold Prince. Sir Brandon senses that someone has been within the old crypt “recently”. He says the town of Brandonsford can be found to the north along the Adriel Way.

Session Events

Including monsters encountered and treasure collected.

  • Woke to find the Ghostly Mark of Sir Brandon on your persons.

  • Continued exploring Sir Brandon’s Barrow Mound.

  • In the salon, triggered a mechanism by filling a pitcher that turned some chairs to uncover four paintings of Sir Brandon and his knights (1,200 gp).

  • Droop was nearly crushed undoing the mechanism, but figured out how it worked just in time.

  • Continued into the armory, where Erazin offered the giant spider a drink of his blood in exchange for Wendimu’s Dagger, and found treasure worth 450 gp amongst the ruined weapons and shields.

  • Explored north, finding a room full of nine uses of Sweet Lavender Oil.

  • Headed south, finding a cleric’s workroom, containing the Lives of the Saints (2,000 gp) holy book and a set of ten Warding Stones.

  • Tracked the giant spider to the next room, another tomb, where Ghesh offered his blood in exchange for the Silver Axe of Sir Wyllt—also found 3 potions of healing, 4 potions of sleep, and 1 potion of tranquility.

  • Continued into the next tomb to find two platinum coins (20 gp), and stones of hold person and daylight (both acting as scrolls).

  • In the final tomb, were attacked by the giant spider and defeated it (150 xp), extracting a vial withering venom as it died.

  • Finally, Erazin and Callum used their magic to recover the treasure at the bottom of the slime pool (a silver dagger and 176 gp).

  • Up on the first level of the barrow, the statues depicting what “makes a true knight” were located (belatedly) and Callum cleaned the mold from a statue of Saint Arthur, granting him a blessing (+1 to all d20 rolls made in the wilderness of the Wealdwood) until the end of June.

  • Before leaving the barrow, Sir Brandon appeared to the party, beseeching them to go to Brandonsford, to the crypt below the city, and secure the artifacts being kept safe there. (QUEST!)

  • Back outside, traveled in the summer heat back to Tavern-by-Sisters, returning Brother Dirk to the temple, then headed to the old orchard to visit Wikkwetch, convincing her to return to town and be healed—which she was. (Though Windril’s whereabouts are currently unknown.)

  • Returned the Holy Sword of Sir Brandon to the temple, completing a quest (500 xp).

  • Half the party spent time in the sewers while the other returned a grateful Wikkwetch to her hut after receiving a gift (22 gp).

  • That night, at the Golden Egg Tavern, gathered rumors and chatted (or were chatted at) by Gill the farmer—rumors concerning the treasure of Carmelo the Cursed.

  • The next day, visited Jack the Pigman, out handshaking him and learning that he’d likely scared off Windril the night before, then intimidating him into transforming into an aggressive wereboar.
