Eilvalor

Eilvalor is a seemingly endless highland expanse covered in fallow fields, twisted woods, and putrid moors, with a dormant volcano rising from its heart. Cairns and barrows dot the frigid landscape—memorials to heroes long dead and a time forgotten. Seldom trodden paths snake and shift over the isle, connecting silent villages and desolate towns, and leading down to the coast, beyond which lies the misty cloak of the sea.

This is the Duchy of Fellweald. The last Eilvalorian king is dead and has been for a century. Duchess Gwendolen Fellweald rules the land from her seat before the Empty Throne in Castle Fell at the southernmost foot of the Agermount. She has appointed barons to govern the far reaches of Eilvalor and to collect taxes on her behalf.

One such baron is Baron Rotherbourne. Clegg Rotherbourne governs the Barony of Rotherbourne from his seat in the Rotkeep. He is a hard and ambitious man. Lately, his sights have been set on the Unclaimed Lands to the north—the Grimmark. But he must tread carefully, for such unchecked expansion is against the tenants of the Church of All-Saints.

The Grimmark is an untamed land to the north of the Barony of Rotherbourne. This dangerous area is separated from the rest of the Duchy of Fellweald by the Tail of the Agermount—the end of a chain of treacherous peaks that only the most stalwart, or those lead by a seasoned guide, dare to cross.
