Port Alaca sits at the northern delta where the river Mara flows into the sea. The town serves as the northern trade center of the Republic of K'ul Goran, and the gate to the inland waterways of rivers and canals, over which river barges connect the various towns and cities and provides a commercial transport network.

The Great Lock, a fortress-like toll station and great river lock controls the comings and going of trade ships, river barges, and serves as the home port of the 2nd squadron of the republican Navy, under the command of Commodore Vivian "Tenways" Tempest.
