Much of Kantas was left shaken by the events in K’ul Goran - the cataclysmic event so narrowly avoided. It was in this time of recuperation that Daring Heights councillor Lady Saria Underwood proposed an idea. Daring Heights was small, and needed big allies, and had also demonstrated both that working together could achieve the impossible and that via the adventurers the Dawnlands could punch well above its weight and provide aid to many.
Therefore she suggested a treaty - a set of accords to bring the nations surrounding the Dawnlands together. The Council agreed, and ambassadors were sent to the nations of Kundar and Vorsthold, in addition to the existing representative in K’ul Goran.
Getting any decision out of Kundar proved tricky - the council of elders that ruled seemed intractable, but tiefling Ambassador Panbas learned that the way to success was to gather the support of both the churches of Bahamut and Tiamat. The churches were diametrically opposed, but nevertheless adventurers attempted to curry favour by helping them with their respective problems.
The mercantile Church of Tiamat was receiving reports of vampire activity in the city. After a blood bank heist and a masquerade ball, the adventurers rooted out the source of it all and had a climactic battle against a Nightwalker that the entire city witnessed.
Meanwhile to aid the Church of Bahamut, they followed the prophetic dreams of a local priest which led them to an underground complex covered in a strange slime that seemed formed from pure evil. It turned out that a copper dragon had been trapped and slowly hypnotised and corrupted by the sound of falling gold by some followers of Tiamat. The dragon was subdued and handed over to Bahamut priests to help recuperate.
Complex religious relations aside, both churches helped to get Kundar on board with the Accords - the value of an alliance with Daring Heights clearly established.
Vorsthold was going to be a tough nut to crack, as was the nature of the Dwarven citadel. Somewhat fortunately, a crisis arose that the Dawnlands was rather uniquely qualified to help deal with, as it originated from the distant lands of Faerun. An undead uprising in the area turned out to be masterminded by Marduk Lazlocath, a rebel from the Red Wizards of Thay in Faerun.
What followed was unprecedented. Time-travelling adventures brought about by a mysterious wizard known as the Chronoturg; a knight displaced by a century, Lady Antiona du Montpasse, her revival and then the subsequent arrival in Kantas of the Knights of the Sword of the Dawn, who set up a camp outside of Daring Heights; a friendly bronze dragon disguised as a dwarf; and the entire city of Vorsthold suspended in time until the destruction of a phylactery.
Ultimately, with the combined efforts of adventurers, the Knights and the hidden dragon Kanorax, the day was saved, and the War Council of Vorsthold were grateful enough to break their centuries-long seclusion to agree to sign the Accords - a powerful addition to the alliance.
The Drow of Aeschira turned out to be quite different from many of the Drow civilisations of Faerun, though that certainly fit the theme of Kantas so far. Initial attempts at connection with the various cities in the Underdark, most prominently Aeschira, went quite well.
Ultimately however despite the aid the Dawnlands was able to provide, it was going to be a long road to the level of relationship where they would consider an alliance.
Finally, it came time to sign the Accord officially, and representatives gathered from all the signatories and most of the other local powers. The ceremony took place at the newly constructed Fort Ettin - a huge red brick fortress conjured from the earth by Aurelia in order to properly house and celebrate the adventuring community, upon whom rested much of the contributions of the Dawnlands to the alliance.
The celebration was a wonderful way to bring people together in the spirit of the accords, and the whole thing was overseen by Queen Sarastra, the Queen of Night and Magic, ruler of the Twilight Court and Fey Ascendant of the Feywild - the highest ranking member of the Fey nobility. When Queen Sarastra was incinerated, poisoned by a chalice filled with cold iron flakes, surrounded by security and powerful mages and warriors, the result was exactly what you would expect: Pandemonium.
