All characters, regardless of which ruleset they use or when they were introduced, must use non-Legacy Spells.
For Spells that have both a 5e and a 5.5e version, this means updating to the latest version of those spells.
For Spells from the Expanded Rules that do not have updated versions, please note that while they will not change now, they may change in the future.

Characters who were introduced to Kantas before the shift to the 5.5e rules are allowed to otherwise remain using the 5e rules. They also have the option to update to the 5.5e ruleset.
To update to the 5.5e rules, you can:
Create a new character sheet in D&DBeyond, rebuilding from the ground up.
Go to 'Manage Levels' on your existing character sheet and edit the levels and features accordingly.
In either case, please ensure you update your Forum Signature!
Characters that update to the 5.5e ruleset must update everything that they can, including classes, sub-classes, feats, species, and background. However, not everything has a 5.5e equivalent yet. Characters that use rules that have not yet been updated are allowed to update those portions of their character sheet at a later date, as additional sourcebooks are released.
Characters that update to the 5.5e ruleset may also find that their exact build no longer makes sense. That's okay! Within reason, and subject to KDM discretion, you are free to:
Re-jig the levels your multiclassed character has. This might be moving levels from one class to another, or removing a class entirely.
Re-jig languages and tools learned in downtime. The 5.5e rules mean some languages are easier or harder to receive through backgrounds or feats.
The ability to update a character using the 5e rules to the 5.5e rules is always available, but this is a one-way door. Once updated, characters are not allowed to return to the old ruleset.
Example: Anbelle Halfgrip
Using the 5e rules, Anbelle was originally a 5 Bard (College of Lore) / 5 Fighter (Cavalier). Upon updating, Anbelle is now a 3 Bard (College of Lore (5.5e)) / 7 Fighter (Cavalier).
Because her Fighter sub-class, Cavalier, has no 5.5e equivalent, it remains the same while the overall Fighter class updates to the 5.5e rules.
When or if an updated Cavalier sub-class is released, Anbelle will have the option to use that instead of the Legacy version.
Example: Marlan Highstep
Using the 5e rules, Marlan was originally a 6 Fighter (Eldritch Knight) / 1 Cleric (War Domain). Upon updating, Marlan is now a 7 Fighter (Eldritch Knight (5.5e)).
Because Marlan would need to put 3 levels into the 5.5e Cleric in order to benefit from the subclass, he decides instead to drop the levels entirely.
