Valentis Fields

Overview

Valentis Fields is the old battlefield of Imperion, a broad country of farmland and plains in the empire's east, named for a battle that still shapes it. Beneath its wheat and pasture lie the bones of armies, and its towns keep that memory in monuments and mourning-halls. It is fertile, well-settled land, but land that remembers its wars.

Geography

Valentis Fields spreads across the plains of eastern Imperion, open farmland broken by lakes and rivers, Lake Duval, the Rivus Castoris, and the River Pelagius, with the Thornspire Range rising along its northern edge. Towns dot the fields, Templaris, Ferrata, Caerwildes, and others, with Drakemyre set among the northern hills near the Gelmora border.

Life and Rule

Valentis Fields is farming country, its plains feeding much of eastern Imperion and its towns trading grain, wool, and worked goods. Well-settled and orderly, it sits under the usual reach of imperial law and local magnates.

But the province is best known for the battle that gave it its name, one of the defining clashes of Imperion's past, remembered at the Memoria Bellum Valenti and mourned at the Lachrymarium. Old graves and older ghosts lie thick beneath the fields, and more than farmers come looking for what the fighting left behind.
