Eldranis Timeline

Age of Foundations (c. 10,000 – 1,000 BC)

  • c. 10,000 BC — The Shaping of Eldranis. Aurelios, Noctyra, and Galdrim shape the world, each pouring their essence into land, sky, and sea. Eldranis is a single vast supercontinent.

  • c. 9,500 BC — The First Mortal Races. Elves, dwarves, humans, and others arise from the world's primordial energies, and the first civilizations form.

  • c. 8,000 BC — The Age of Dawn. Cities and kingdoms rise, and the elves raise the Elf Gates, the Aiudara.

  • c. 7,000 BC — The Founding of Eirendor. Eirendor grows into a magical and cultural center as elven influence spreads through the Aiudara.

  • c. 6,000 BC — The Rise of Human Kingdoms. The first human empires rise, and cities such as Aeliopolis are built.

  • c. 5,500 BC — The Age of Wonders. Elven mages experiment with planar travel and otherworldly contact, and human craft and magic advance in their wake.

  • c. 4,000 BC — The First Divine Conflicts. Wars among the divine reshape the face of Eldranis.

Age of Golden Empires (1,000 – 1 BC)

  • c. 1,000 BC — The Reforging of Orethar. New kingdoms rise across the central continent and unite toward the Imperion Empire.

  • c. 500 BC — The Eclipse of Aurelios and Noctyra. A great celestial event plunges Eldranis into darkness and sets off religious conflict.

The Great Cataclysm (Year 0 – 5 AC)

  • 0 AC — The Nihilith Invasion. The Nihilith tear through reality from the Abyssal Rift, bringing corruption and ruin. The supercontinent breaks apart into the Shattered Isles, and new oceans are born.

  • 5 AC — The Sacrifice of Galdrim. Galdrim binds the Nihilith leader, Zal'kathor, within the Shattered Isles and becomes one with the land. His essence becomes the Seals of Galdrim.

Age of High Kingdoms (1 – 2,000 AC)

  • 10 AC — The Age of Recovery. The survivors rebuild, raising new cities such as Altoria and forging fresh alliances from the wreckage of the old world.

Age of Twilight Wars (2,000 – 2,499 AC)

  • 2,050 AC — The Dragon's Resurgence. Ancient wyrms wake and press their demands on the kingdoms, and an age of dragon-slaying heroes begins.

Age of Chaos and Redemption (2,500 – 2,999 AC)

  • 2,500 AC — The Gnoll Wars Begin. Angash unites the gnoll tribes and wars on Imperion.

  • 2,505 AC — The Battle of Valentis Fields. The war's decisive battle; the site is later marked by the memorial Memoria Bellum Valenti.

  • 2,510 AC — The Curses of the Gnoll Tribes. Each of the four tribes falls under a curse, and their downfall and scattering follow.

  • 2,510 AC — The Gloaming Plague. A magical illness spreads through Eirendor, trapping its victims in endless twilight and nightmare-comas. No cure is found for twenty years (lifted 2,530).

  • 2,600 AC — The Blood War of Eirendor. Rival elven clans and the fey courts fight over Eiryn Downs until the Court of Eternal Grace brokers a fragile truce.

  • 2,700 AC — The Twilight Pact. The nations of Orethar agree to limit high magic after a run of magical disasters.

  • 2,700 AC — The Treaty of Caerwyn. The nations of Eldranis gather at Caerwyn to set formal borders and standardize trade, opening an era of prosperity.

  • 2,950 AC — The Rise of the Empyreal Faith. In Imperion, a priest blends the teachings of Aurelios and Noctyra into a new faith that spreads fast and unsettles the older orders.

Age of the Wandering Dungeons (3,000 – 3,099 AC)

  • 3,000 AC — The First Rising Dungeon. The first randomly appearing dungeon is reported near Altoria. The Guild Accord acts, but the dungeon stays a mystery.

  • 3,020 AC — The Siege of the Silver Citadel. An alliance of gnolls, orcs, and monsters besieges the Silver Citadel in the Gleannfall Mountains; the defenders hold nearly two years before relief breaks the siege.

  • 3,030 AC — The Fall of the Sapphire Court. House Aurelia loses much of its influence after a dark-magic scandal, leaving a power vacuum in Altoria.

  • 3,040 AC — The Ebon Inquisition. Altoria founds the Ebon Inquisition to root out heresy and corruption; its methods grow brutal and breed unrest.

  • 3,050 AC — The Eternal Harvest. A curse in the Ceredig Grasslands makes crops grow without stopping, then monstrous, overrunning the land. It takes years to bring back under control.

  • 3,070 AC — The Sinking of Virdara. An earthquake drops part of the coastal city of Virdara, in the Thalassia Realms, into the sea; the ruins become a haven for smugglers and pirates.

  • 3,085 AC — The Binding of the Fae Courts. The Seelie and Unseelie courts pact to preserve the natural world, though much of the old tension only goes underground.

Age of the Present (3,100 – 3,130 AC)

  • 3,100 AC — The Weeping Stars. Across Eldranis the stars seem to weep, shedding light that falls as fragments; they grant strange powers and carry curses that twist mind and body.

  • 3,100 AC — The Founding of Serpent's Rest. Shipwrecked nagaji settle in Altoria and build Serpent's Rest, blending their homeland's architecture with the city's own.

  • 3,100 AC — The Rise of the Cult of Zal'kathor. Word spreads of a cult that would break the Seals of Galdrim and free Zal'kathor, though little about it is known for certain.

  • 3,110 AC — The Expansion of the Gilded Bazaar. Trade flourishes, and the Gilded Bazaar in Altoria becomes a hub for goods from every corner of the world.

  • 3,110 AC — The Order of the Ironbound Oath. An order of knights forms in Pallasia to hunt and seal the Voidborn dungeons, known for grim, ruthless efficiency.

  • 3,115 AC — The First Everdawn Tournament. Shenyun hosts a grand contest of arms, magic, and art; its winners gain great prestige, its losers often pay a lasting price.

  • 3,120 AC — The Day of Folly. Varyx's Day of Folly spreads across Imperion, a festival that blurs the line between law and chaos.

  • 3,130 AC — Present Day. By elven reckoning the prophesied Second Coming of the Celestial Wardens draws near, and with it the fear of a new Nihilith incursion.
