Description: A trapfinder ball is a small, enchanted sphere designed to detect and trigger traps from a safe distance. The ball is made of a durable material and imbued with minor divination magic to sense mechanical and magical traps.
Traits: Consumable, Magical
Activation:
Throw [one-action]: You can throw the trapfinder ball up to 30 feet to a specific location. Make a ranged attack roll against AC 5 to place it precisely. The ball activates upon impact.
Special Properties:
Trap Detection: When the ball lands, it emits a faint magical pulse that attempts to detect mechanical and magical traps in a 10-foot radius. It makes a Perception check with a +10 bonus to detect traps. If the check succeeds, the ball emits a brief, audible chime.
Trap Triggering: If the trapfinder ball detects a trap, it attempts to trigger it safely. Mechanical traps are triggered automatically if possible, while magical traps require the ball to make a Thievery check with a +8 bonus to disable them. If it fails, the trap may still be triggered or activated, but the ball itself takes the brunt of the effect, often destroying the ball in the process.
Durability: The trapfinder ball has hardness 2 and 10 Hit Points. It is typically destroyed upon triggering a trap.
Crafting Requirements:
