The impenetrable cavern of Boalst is a large town build in the southern foot of the Midtberch mountains. The opening to the city is a narrow pathway too small for even a sled, keeping the cold and the intruders out. This ore mining town uses the geological heat of the mountain to keep their homes warm enough to safe their already scarce supply of wood. The cavern stays at a bearable temperature throughout the entire year. This is especially beneficial during winter season as the weather locks the population inside due to regular avalanches. The people of Deryl have even called Boalsteners Stoat-bears for this almost hibernation like period.
The mines within aren't connected to the underdark, but like most mines they are nearly devoid of life. The greatest threat in the mines are the strange elemental shifts within the mountain. The further one goes within the mines, the stranger the elements start to behave. The air can suddenly become unbreathable, candles can flicker out or pop, water sometimes petrifies those who are exposed to it. The inhabitants have yet to understand the nature of these phenomena and became extremely superstitious. Almost daily they tell rumors of howling ghosts that roam the mines, of whispers inside the brittle ores and of strange reflections in crystals. Boalst is one of the most important towns to conquer if one wishes to fuel their war effort to become the next Laerer Koningr, but learning the strange superstitions ways of Boalsteners to trade or even negotiate with them is hard and appears almost impossible to those who were not born there.
For half a century, this grey skinned man walked through the mines as the leader of Boalst. Sywert was an elemental adapted human able to hold his breath for days and survive the mines with more ease then any other human. But when he set his sights on the title of Lærer Kønigr an illness befell him, and he died not even a year later. His exemplary leadership and his unique abilities unified the Boalsteners and still propel them forward today. His many children and grandchildren still fight to earn the same respect and become the Koningr of Boalst.
