Rev. Thomas Carnes is the head of the Reavian Cathedral in Paragon's Rest, as a result of the war and the loss of the former archbishop he has become very influential rather suddenly despite being a pariah among his peers for entering the service later in life. Many who meet Carnes report a comforting and wise presence, others suspect him of having an ulterior motive or being less than devoted to his role.

Carnes was previously a hero in and around the Dominion, many of his now parishioners owe their lives to him indirectly. He entered into the priesthood of Reaves following his encounter with the Underworld. Carnes reports he "swam in the River Styx" and subsequently died. It is verifiable that he was gravely injured and was forced to retire from heroics. At this time he finished his religious education under the care of his predecessor.
