Osrick was born in the Principality of Kiev, the only son of poor river merchants. His childhood was spent traveling up and down the Dniper, learning how to survive, using a dane axe to defend their boat, and the power of money... though he was not a merchant at heart. His mother, a daughter of a Cumin horse seller, taught Osrick the love of the open steppe, and his father wowed him of stories of the rich city of Constantinople, and how he could build his future there as a member of the Varangian Guard!

Upon reaching adulthood, Osrick joined a cohort heading south, across the Black Sea, to that shinning city. Once there, and proving himself worthy, he joined numerous other mercenaries as the Emperor's bodyguard. For 15 years he fought in the Guard, and earned the rank of Decurio, or captain, before, in the mountains of Anatolia, he found himself in Osterra.

For a year, Orsrick wandered, until he found the Khanate, in particular Vargr, who spoke a similar language to his own. Their customs were similar, their traditions similar, there were even other Kievans! Osrick was found, and bonded with this new people that took him in. Osrick maybe long from his homeland, but as long as he has his axe, a pouch of gold, and a good horse, he will always be home.
