Caomhn贸ir Criostail was initially an Orcish stronghold near Solace, loyal to Shagarash and the Demons. The Guild of the Black Sky requested adventurers from all factions assist in driving out these evil forces, and discovered they had been excavating something at the command of their overlords. The Guild of the Black Sky investigated the caves below the fort, and discovered the Crystal Gardens. Here, Power Crystals grew under the protections of mighty Earth Elementals.

Shagarash and the Demons had managed to steal some Power Crystals from the Gardens, which they used to increase their magical abilities. The Guild agreed to recover the crystals for the Elementals, and with their aid located a Demonic Caravan that the United Forces of Osterra was able to ambush and overpower.
After returning the recovered Power Crystals, the Guild secured the approval of the Earth Elementals to allow adventurers to study the crystals so long as they were not removed from the Gardens. At this time, Black Sky suggested to the realm that Caomhn贸ir Criostail serve as a united factions headquarters. A handful of guards from every faction would man the fort to ensure no one held sole control of the Gardens. The Crystal Gardens would be open to all who wish to study, regardless of faction, but all would have to adhere to the same safety measures to ensure the safety of the Gardens. However, this proposition was quickly forgotten by the realm as the Daemon Wars escalated, and it was discovered that King Foster had been corrupted.
