Wounds

Sometimes when you take damage or are affected by certain sources, you will become wounded. Whether it is a deep cut, or a shattered bone, a wound is unhealable damage you have taken, effectively reducing your maximum vitality, until your wounds have recovered.

Wounds and Unhealable Maximum Vitality

When you are wounded, a portion of of your maximum Vitality is subtracted and becomes unhealable.

The Vitality that becomes unhealable from wounds is taken from the top of your maximum vitality. You cannot have more current vitality than your maximum vitality subtracted by the value of your wounds.

How to Wound and Being Wounded

Wounds occur under certain conditions, such as a certain monsters critically hitting you, certain spells, or other specific sources of damage, such as the Wounding Strikes Keystone or the Exploit Wounds spell.

Recovering Wounds

You can recover from wounds by taking a Rest. When you use your Vitality Dice to heal during a rest, you can heal and recover your wounds, but at half efficiency, if your Vitality Dice healing would heal that missing vitality. Meaning, every 2 vitality you would heal normally from Resting, you heal 1 vitality when healing wounds.

Special sources of healing, like certain spells, and items, can recover a wound.

Wounding through Ward

When you receive a wound while you have a Ward, the wound bypasses your Ward and subtracts from your regular amount of maximum vitality.

Injuries

When a creature is Wounded for 25%, 50%, and 75% of their maximum Vitality, they gain an Injury. An Injury is an optional, additional effect that occurs based upon the actions that Wounded the creature. See: Injuries for a complete list of recommended Injuries.
