Eiren

“Eirenir” in Alder.

The Eiren are found in the mountains, hills and plains of the world, and tend to not mix well with modern culture, due to their high level of spiritualism. They are tall, strong, and lean humanoids that are covered in a layer of short, dense fur all over. Their coats can be blonde, brown, black, or similar natural colors, and they sometimes develop patterns. Their faces are similar to that of a barn owl, and their fur hides birdlike features. Their eyes are solid black. They have fuzzy, floppy ears that rest on the sides of their heads. Eiren have short dark claws on every finger of their hands, as well as two dark or cream colored horns that curve backwards from the front of their skull, which resemble sharp moose antlers, perhaps. These horns keep growing throughout their life, and their size signify age in this way. Eiren often adorn their horns with paints, jewelry and other ornate embellishments.

Their traditional societies are highly ritualistic, and organize into tribes, known as a Harze. The Harze is typically led by one of the oldest Eiren called the Elder Chief, and is like a political and spiritual leader to the Harze. The Elder Chief may appoint any number of other Chiefs to help run the Harze, and most commonly these include a War Chief, who commands their warriors, a Hunt Chief, who facilitates and trains their hunters, and a Land Chief, who keeps the lore of farming, ranching, and other secrets of the land, and passes them on to the rest of the Harze.

Eiren society values strength and individualism, and have a philosophy centered on fighting for what each Eiren believes in. In this way, it is normal for Eiren to leave the Harze they are born into, and seek others, or even wander in search of new prospects and adventures.
