Orcs

“Bormar” in Alder, “Orks” in Orcish.

The term “Orc” can define a number of similar, but different orcish peoples. They are strong humanoid creatures that have a powerful and frightening appearance. They have dark hair, with a variety of different dark, black, or earthen colored skins. Their teeth are sharp, and fanged, and their eyes are blackened, with either reddish or yellowed irises. Parts of their skin may be intensely calloused, giving them a rugged appearance.

Orcs sometimes have small variances, deformities or unique traits about them, some of which remain generational, such as pale skin, a hunched back, longer ears and more. The size and appearance between different orcish bloodlines may vary greatly. To some orcs, their differences carry great honor, or deep shame.

Orc culture generally views weakness as something that must be stamped out in others, and that through trial, struggle and strength, they can cure weakness in themselves. Orcs can eat practically anything, and are known to consume raw meats after a battle, sometimes, that of their fallen foe. They are dark, brutal, harsh, tough, and simple.

Orcs commonly group themselves into clans, warbands, or tribes, and usually, Orcs of the same group share similar characteristics, like their stature or appearance. These groups are most commonly found outside of civilized lands, with groups of orcs preferring mountain holds, nomadic camps, or the wilderness. From there, they seek war, blood, and survival.

Some Orcish bloodlines are the result of mages from ages past spawning Orcs with human traits, to be controlled and used in their armies. These War-born orcs are fearsome, more so than common orcs, and have outlived their masters, enduring on as a grim reminder of ancient evils.
