Goblins

Goblins

“Vormar” in Alder.

Goblins hail from the dark places of the world, such as marshes, lowlands and cave systems. They are small, hunched creatures, addled by inner darkness. In the most ancient of days, goblins were the extended hand of grand malicious powers. As such, they are most commonly found in the ruins of ancient dark fortresses, or under the earth.

They are small statured creatures, with a natural hunch and a wide stance. Their skin is tough and oily, and can be any variety of color that resembles dirt, mud, soot, sand, slime, or moss. They have brown or black hair, which is usually quite thin. Their eyes are large and adjusted for darkness, and are reflective. Their irises may be brown, yellow, pallid white, or black, and their sclera may be white or black. They have crooked, pointed ears, and gnarled features overall.

Seen as vile, nasty creatures around the world, Goblins have it hard outside of their claimed lands. Their creations, if they ever strive to create at all, are simple and crude, and they would prefer to occupy ancient places than create a civilization of their own. Goblins prefer to consume raw flesh over other sources of food, and find joy in inflicting pain on others. Greed runs rampant among goblins, and scarcity of learning has blunted their minds. This cruel and harsh way of living causes some goblins to leave their lands and strike out, making them an ever present threat throughout all of known history.

Not only are goblins known to take from others, but they also are well known to fight among each other for supremacy, for food, and for status. If a goblin can subjugate another, it is seen as virtuous. Nevertheless, some Goblins seek to escape the cycle, and attempt a different kind of life, separate from their vile origins.
