This differs between the Dalro (Southern Steppe), Dalar (Northern Steppe), and the Ormad (NW Coast). For as long as has been documented, the Dalro were mixed, with some populations seeing a predominant matriarch and others a predominant patriarch. In this way, some view pre-historic Dalric society as something akin to egalitarian.

However, both Steppe populations exhibit predominantly matriarchal tendencies, though these are rarely dynastic. Some tendencies of their pre-contact familial practices persist, the most obvious being that of sending juvenile males out on their own. Bachelor groups typically form for these exiled males, though most tend to be permitted back into their original Herd upon reaching maturity.

This tactic suits the Dalro well, given that the Madagor, too, exhibits it. So, it is common to see Dalro bachelor groups migrating with Madagor bachelor groups. Interestingly, some male Dalro continue this so-called bachelor lifestyle, sticking with other voluntary exiles. Most stereotypes about Dalro as “Outlaws” stem from these groups. It is one of these groups that has run Xeval for nearly 80 years.
