Most mortal ancestries in Tales of Nimoria share a single biological and metaphysical foundation known as the Makerโ€™s Form. Forged by Hallenmyr with the aid of Omirileth, the Vital Fundamyth of Form, this template defines how bodies take shape, inherit traits, house souls, and reproduce. Because both Kalmenid and Fey-descended lineages stem from this same soul-anchoring design, they remain inherently compatible.

Though Hallenmyrโ€™s true nature is formless, as motion in truth has no form and is all form at once, they adopted a tangible โ€œbuilderโ€™s shapeโ€ during the crafting of the Echo Realms; a versatile form marked by a bipedal stance, multiple manipulatory limbs, and echoes of insectoid or winglike traits. The first Titans, grown from Hallenmyrโ€™s Echdrassil body-trees, inherited this shape. Their anatomy set the precedent for the broader mortal pattern later mirrored in Kalmenid, Fey, and even certain divine-born beings who adopted the Makerโ€™s Form as a stable vessel.

Elementals and other life born of the Kiln lack the Makerโ€™s Form entirely. Their bodies are shaped from raw elemental essence, making them volatile, non-hereditary, and unable to interbreed with mortals despite sharing Echo-Realm origins.

Fey lineages emerged early in the Wyrd, whose fluid resonance rapidly expressed the Makerโ€™s Form. In contrast, the low-magic Aria developed slowly, taking millennia to produce the first Kalmenid peoples.

Beastfolk began as mundane Aria animals reshaped by Wyrd rifts. Their bodies were rewritten to follow the Fey expression of the Makerโ€™s Form, allowing hybridization with other mortals. However, beastfolk cannot mix across unrelated animal groups (e.g., mammal โ†› bird); cross-category offspring inherit only one parentโ€™s body plan, with the other contributing minor colors, patterns, or features but never major outward ones such as limbs or other appendages.

Over generations on Yoren, Fey-descended peoples further harmonized with Kalmenids, increasing biological and metaphysical compatibility.

Tieflings are mortals whose bodies have been rewritten by Kiln energy while retaining the Makerโ€™s Form. They can hybridize with any Kalmenid or Fey ancestry, but only beings with the Makerโ€™s Form (beastfolk excluded for unknown reasons) can become tieflings.

Creatures without the templateโ€”such as Vistora, Arrangements, and similar beingsโ€”are non-biological, non-hereditary, or follow entirely different morphogenic rules. They cannot intermix with Fey or Kalmenids and cannot survive Kilnic transformation.

Hybrid offspring select one parentโ€™s lineage as the dominant (mechanical) ancestry to make them easier to sort.

The Makerโ€™s Form naturally stabilizes each new birth by reinforcing a single coherent ancestry. When excessive lineage mixing would create an unstable or nonviable body, the template performs a โ€œreset,โ€ simplifying the form while allowing minor exotic traits to persist.

Even extreme multi-generation combinations produce a stable, functional ancestry rather than uncontrolled โ€œsuper-hybrids.โ€ Hybrid ร— hybrid children are always treated mechanically as one ancestry, with optional cosmetic influences.
