Therianids (Beastfolk)

❝ Fur, scale, or feather matters little once you share a meal with them;
by the second cup, you forget they were ever called beasts at all. ❞

Beastfolk (Therianids) are humanoid peoples descended from animals that were transformed by ancient magical resonance between the Wyrd and the Aria.

Long exposure to this energy caused certain animal species to evolve upright bodies, extended lifespans, and full sapience comparable to other mortal races.

While their forms retain animal traits such as fur, scales, tails, or vestigial wings, Beastfolk think, speak, and build societies as any other people. Today, they are a widespread and culturally diverse race, found both in their own realms and living alongside other sapient civilizations.

Beastfolk appearance varies by lineage, but most stand between 81-220 cm at maturity. They retain clear animal traits such as fur, scales, feathers, tails, horns, or vestigial wings, combined with upright, bipedal bodies and dexterous hands.

Physiques often reflect ancestral traits, ranging from lean and agile to heavy and powerful. Coloration follows natural animal patterns, including earth tones, stripes, spots, or countershading. Many Therianids possess vestigial features left over from their rapid evolution, such as wings incapable of sustained flight or tails no longer essential for balance.

Beastfolk reach adulthood at around 18 years and have a fixed lifespan of roughly 70–100 common years. They can reproduce shortly after maturity, with reproductive cycles varying slightly by lineage. Despite their diverse forms, all modern day Beastfolk are fully sapient and culturally complex.
