Food production relies on terraced, aquatic, and floating farms adapted to volcanic soil and tidal irrigation, practices also maintained in Port Ramu.

Common crops include

  • Sarati (crimson rice)

  • Auvin grass for fiber and ritual use

  • Solzamri fruits for drink and fermentation

  • Lumesi kelp cultivated underwater

  • and hardy tubers such as Marnakil and Bayanee, valued for their adaptability.

Fishing, hunting, and seasonal foraging supplement agricultural output, particularly in smaller or more isolated communities.

Sarnevalians have domesticated land, sky, and aquatic creatures vital to their agriculture, trade, and daily life. Apart from ordinary pets and livestock such as cats, dogs, axolotls, horses, etc. they have also brought a variety of unique fauna endemic to their motherland.

  • Vathari (Sky Buffalo) โ€“ Golden-furred, winged buffaloes that produce silk and sweet โ€œhoney-dairyโ€ milk. Though capable of flight, they prefer grazing on Sarati fields.

  • Draโ€™mulek (Tidal Buffalo) โ€“ Amphibious oxen that plow submerged fields and haul goods across land and sea; kin to the Vathari.

  • Kammoraks (Garden Turtles) โ€“ Massive turtles bearing coral and moss gardens on their shells; used as mobile pens and markets. Their shells regenerate naturally.

  • Dalaganns (Reefrunners) โ€“ Amphibious reptilians trained to fetch shellfish and treasures; can sprint over water briefly.

  • Phoslapia (Lanternfish) โ€“ Bioluminescent fish kept in hanging water orbs as living lights; glow in orange or blue.

  • Ravain Hawks (Storm Kites) โ€“ Large messenger and fishing birds, some said to guide ships through mist.

While agriculture sustains most of the population, hunting, fishing, and seasonal foraging remain crucial.

The economy centers on small-scale craftsmanship, shipbuilding, alchemical brewing, and long-distance exchange. Bioluminescent inks, maritime construction, and courier work form recognizable trades. Port Ramu functions as a regional exchange hub, extending Sarnevalian trade practices into Nimoria.

Commerce primarily uses coined currency, supplemented by barter and gift exchange.

  • Tidecoins (Nirai) pressed shell coins with trace luminescence, are used for everyday trade

  • while Pearlmarks serve as higher denominations for large transactions.
