Oni Interactions With Other Races

LEGEND

๐ŸŸฅ

Intense animosity and hatred, mortal enemies, have a history of violent conflicts and ongoing grudges.

๐ŸŸง

Significant tension or distrust; no open warfare but history of conflict. Strained relationship and cooperation is rare or difficult.

๐ŸŸจ

Neutral or cautious relationship, some mutual respect but also wariness. Diplomacy and trade are possible but often come with conditions.

๐ŸŸฉ

Friendly and cooperative relations, may have a history of peaceful interactions, mutual respect, or collaboration on endeavors.

HUMANOIDS

Tallfolk

๐ŸŸจ Oni find tallfolk to be diverse in their reactions to the Void, with some showing fear and others curiosity. Still, tensions run high, and many rural or superstitious tallfolk still shun the oniโ€”often with violence.

Sun Elves

๐ŸŸฅ Oni view sun elves with (mutual) wariness and mistrust, recognizing their visceral hatred for anything associated with the Void.

Dwarves

๐ŸŸง Oni and dwarves rarely interact due to the dwarves' traditionalism and lack of common ground. They generally avoid each other.

Dark Elves

๐ŸŸง Oni can, on rare occasion, share mutual understanding with dark elves due to their marginalized statuses, though alliances are rare, short-lived and based on convenience rather than trust or affection.

Gnomes

๐ŸŸจ Oni often find gnomes more open-minded about their heritage than elves. Gnomes are occasionally receptive (in a scientifically curious way) about the oni's eldritch magic, though there are still tensions.

Halflings

๐ŸŸจ Oni see halflings as non-threatening and sometimes form deeper bonds with them than with the other races. The halflings' simplicity, openness and appreciation for an exciting story can be a refreshing change for oni.

MONSTROUS

Kobolds, Goblins, Tengu, Wildlings, Orcs, Changelings

๐ŸŸง Oni are often feared by demi-human races who know the dangers of dealing with the Void. Many oni consider themselves more "human" than the other monstrous races.

There is some solidarity in shared struggle, but they don't often work together.
