HUMANOIDS
🟧 Dwarves hold a deep disdain for sun elves due to historical territorial wars that forced the dwarves to expand downward. They view sun elves as arrogant and blame them for their hardships over limited land.
🟨 Dwarves appreciate the trade relations with tallfolk but view them as impulsive and not serious enough. Their adaptability is respected, but their lack of conservative values and perceived frivolity—not so much.
🟥 Considered current enemies #1, dark elves are hated for their current territorial conflicts in the underground. Dwarves see them as dangerous rivals and a constant threat to their safety and resources.
🟨 Respected as fellow craftsmen, though dwarves believe their own forging skills are far superior to gnomish inventions, and consider the gnomes flighty and eccentric. There is some mutual appreciation for each other's craftsmanship, despite some differences in methods.
🟩 Dwarves appreciate halflings' agricultural trade and will usually enjoy each others’ company on the occasion they meet, but often see the halflings as especially small and weak, treating them as people in need of protection and coddling. |
MONSTROUS
🟧 Dwarves rarely interact with Oni, but on the rare occasion they do, treat them with significant wariness due to their connection to the Void and—more egregiously—for their penchant and potential for chaos.
Kobolds, Goblins, Tengu, Wildlings, Orcs, Changelings | 🟧 Generally unfamiliar with these races due to their surface-dwelling nature. Dwarves are wary of monstrous races, viewing the assimilation of them as “humans” into society to be non-traditional and outlandish. |
