Industrious and highly prolific, no one truly knows how extensive the K'kchi under-kingdoms truly are. Not even the K'kch themselves.

The Lands Below.

It's said that creatures long ago followed the roots of world trees curling into the earth where the latent aether flooding the soil gave them new form and thought. Perhaps, thousands of years later, that is how the K'kchi came to be. Though they do call the Dark Below their home, they do not give much thought to their origins.

Artificing in Secret.

Many of the realmstar's people have at least heard of the verminfolk beneath their feet but rarely have they been sought out. K'kchii, having been undisturbed for many hundreds of years, have focused mostly on themselves and their laboratories. Unfortunately, this time has been spent more on infighting and scientific advancement than on introspection. The only outsiders that ever see a K'kchi undercity are not likely to leave if the rat-men have a say in it-- they are definitely not the most friendly folk.

K'kch have learned to make use of aether's tendency to crystallize when stagnant and unmoving- Building massive aethertraps in the Dark Below to harness what they call Wraithstone and using it to power their industry.

"Those rat-men down below... can't deny their talent for arc-istry. Heard rumors of a stone that glows and hums with magic. Maybe worth a peek, if we can find a way to deal with their... uncivilized tendencies."

Lords of the Under.

K'kchi hierarchies are as loose and ever-changing as their sense of loyalty. Having power and influence as a result of your skills and strength is the only way to possibly save your hide another day. And you'd best be willing to back up your exploits with more than talk, because past accomplishments mean little to an ambitious K'kch who wants to make the rules now.
