Each race has a different name for Aether.

Elves.

Aethir (Eh-thier). Ae is a special sound in Elvish that serves as the basis for many words relating to this people. They understood Aethir to give them life and so Aethir is a word literally meaning "our breath." Ae is deliberately meant to mimic the sound of a sigh or breath.

Ael- Us. Thir - breath.

Dwarves and Men.

Aether or Aethyr & Anima. Men and Dwarves distinguish a difference between aether that provides life and aether that is manipulated for spellcraft. They use the word Anima for that which keeps breathing creatures alive and Aether for magic and the elements.

A'kith. Meaning 'the vigour'.
