As well as makeup and naturally gaunt colours, many Aurii bear their own personal tattoos and paints that identify them during hunts or terrible weather. These can represent experiences or phases of an aurii's life and individuality or a mark of the family that he or she belongs to.
Howling.
In communicating long-distance over storms and dangerous climes, most Aurii are capable of howling; an altogether different sound from the Draihari that, to the uninitiated who hear them, might be mistaken for lost echoes of Valari song.
Family dynamics.
Aurii, far removed from their spire-building counterparts, maintain tight-knit clans normally run by the same families. In such communities most things are communal, and all see each other as a part of the family unit.
In being led this way, it is not uncommon for a ruling shaman to take the oldest and chosen of their family as their harem, in maintaining order and family strength.
These bonds are intimate, tantric, and their relationships are, much of the time, one and the same. It is as common to find individuals of the same blood as not, who are long bonded, that consider each other to be two halves of the same soul.
