Overview.

Elves were created as one of the first races of Nheros, designed by a divine being with the intention to experience the world through their eyes, the being unable to perceive or exist in a physical realm. The elves were chosen to serve as wise council for all subsequent creations so as to maintain order to the world, that it last as long as possible before needing reorigination.

Undying Light.

Elven bodies are innately magical and they do not die of old age; the cells of their bodies do not senesce. They function like Aetherfonts and magical energy enters and exits their energy field. This sustains them. This energy can be seen by the naked eye of few creatures, and those versed in arcane sight, and it appears as a light aura particularly concentrated around the limbs and head. See Elven Hair.

Most elves are innately aware of this quality but can struggle to explain its usage or purpose to other species who may be less aware of it.

This constantly fluctuating energy about their bodies is partly responsible for their heightened awareness. The inner world of an elf is both more restful, as a result of their knowing, and more disquieted due to their more robust ability to perceive as compared to most mortal races.

Sustaining Aether.

As a result of passing energies through their bodies perpetually, elves are the most sensitive beings of Nhera physically and emotionally and can become physically changed through extended exposure to strong types of aethyrmyst. This often manifests over hundreds of years and rarely shorter unless in extreme circumstances. That said, they change more quickly than one would see in mortal races, who's bodies do not receive as high quantity of aether.

Additionally, elves are able to direct this latent magic into their crafts, or into other beings through mental concentration.

They experience feelings more strongly than most other creatures, but not manifested as neuroticism or instability as much as their state of mind and emotions. Although wont to manage experiences with grace, elves can still react strongly to what they perceive as ill will and insult. An insulted elf is capable of harbouring great, long grudges with others.
