Overview
Gear is a ruleset for special equipment and items you can find in-Universe.
Whenever you roll dice for an effect of Gear, you roll at least your Allround Dice, unless that specific Gear or a Trait states otherwise.
Gear versus Equipment
Gear is only specified as such if it requires its own rules and effects. This generally applies to items that have Scramble-specific functions or exceedingly rare in-Universe properties, such as weapons, armor, magical equipment, and items with a limited amount of uses.
Activating & Wearing Gear
To roll for a Gear’s effects, you must Activate it. Usually, this costs either a Major or Minor Action (more on that later), but a piece of Gear might also specify other requirements.
Additionally, to Activate a Gear, you must wear it. By default, this means you must have it on your person and be able to access it quickly, as opposed to having it stowed away in a container. A piece of Gear might also have additional requirements specified to be able to wear it. If at any time you do not meet those requirements, you are not wearing the Gear anymore, and thus cannot Activate it for its effects.
Additionally, you are only allowed to wear 3 Gear at the same time and you cannot change which Gear you wear during a Scramble.
