Champion Modifiers

Champion Modifiers are specific features that drastically improve the difficulty of specific enemies. There are three kinds of champions:


  • Overload Champions

These fast champions can move double their Speed and take double the actions on their turn. They lose their Champion feature when they are hit with an Overload weapon, or by Arc or Stasis abilities.

  • Barrier Champions

These hardy champions have double the health than they normally have. They can also use a bonus action to erect an invulnerable shield, but their movement speed reduces to 0. If they start their next turn while the shield is still up, they heal 5d12 damage. The barrier can be removed early if hit with an Anti-barrier weapon, or by Strand or Solar abilities.

  • Unstoppable Champions

These aggressive champions can move double their Speed, have resistance to all damage, and are immune to all status effects. They immediately lose their Champion feature when they are hit by an Unstoppable weapon, or by Void or Stasis abilities.

  • Nightmares

Nightmares are psychic manifestations of traumatic memory that seem to inherit the knowledge of the memory's subject. When they are downed, they become immune to all damage, and stand back up with full health after 1 minute. Once downed, they can only be destroyed by unique methods depending on their nature. This can be up to the DM's discretion. (You can use this rule if you want to apply a Raid mechanic to a non-Raid Boss creature.)

  • SIVA-Spliced

These dangerously cybernetically modified creatures are grafted (or taken over?) by nanomachines left with a simple, inalterable directive by the ancient Warmind, Rasputin. Creatures in an encounter that are SIVA-Spliced share the following benefits:

  • SIVA-Spliced creatures within 120ft. of each other share each others' senses.

  • Once per turn, they can reduce any damage taken by [1d4], to a minimum of 1.

  • If a SIVA-Spliced creature dies, they release SIVA nanites that heal all allied SIVA-Spliced creatures within 15ft. for [2d4] damage. You roll this once to apply for all creatures.
