The tales of creation have been muddled by the re-telling throughout time. What we know is gathered from consistencies found throughout different cultures around our world.
Elder Deities
Elder Deities have existed since before recorded history yet their presence and influence remain imprinted across the land. They each embody a classical domain of divinity and are known collectively as the Elder Eight. Though they maintain a more hands-off approach in modern times, their will is still felt through the work of champions, clerics, and paladins of their orders.
Young Deities
Young Deities are members of a newer pantheon of ascended mortals, far more active than their Elder counterparts. Rather than embodying classical domains of the universe, these beings represent groups of people, foundational ideals, and walks of life. They are not the only deities who have filled the void left by the retreat of the Elder Eight, but they are the most widely worshiped and therefore the most realized of them.
Nigh Deities
Nigh Deities are -- for all intents and purposes -- less-followed Young Deities. While the Young Deities often have significant numbers of devotees in every major city, it is far less common to see open worship of a Nigh Deity. Most are morally dubious or otherwise esoteric, tainting public perception of them and their followers.
Quasi-Deities
Associated with the Pantheon are the Quasi-Deities. Entities that may be a direct creation, the result of a relationship with a mortal, or even a vestige of a former power.
