Welcome to the Tenth World! A Homebrew Sci-Fantasy setting (heavy on the fantasy with a splash of the sci!)
Please note: We are undergoing some changes to the setting, swapping 5e for the FATE Core system. The humans behind the screen are also revamping the lore so bare with us.
The world has been born and destroyed nine times over the eons. This is the dawn of its final cycle. Now in its tenth cycle the world is brimming with possibilities, echoes of the past, and nigh endless exploration opportunities.
Now the land has been broken into multiple floating continents each with a dragon enclave maintaining the resonance of each parcel . Above the sky has been shattered into a kaleidoscope of color and below a vast sea of stars which are reflected on the metallic undersides of the land masses.
PC’s are welcomed aboard a relic of the ancients, an ambling massive automaton that crawls slowly across the continent. Here fantasy renaissance life meets sci-fi futurism.
Citizens live side by side with unusual animals, a bartender bot named Sal, get to ride atop gargantuan land striding monsters, explore ruins, and most importantly recover cyphers, relics, and artifacts.
Lore Primer
As you may have gathered from the introduction this setting is one that takes place on a planet called Oidhre that has undergone ten near extinction level events. The current state of the planet is a semi-medieval frontier. All over the various floating continents evidence of the former civilizations can be found, most notably in the form of ‘glitch'. Glitch is the catchall term for the technology left behind after each cataclysm. Some people did survive each of the events though they were few and far between bringing with them stories and myths of the ‘worlds’ that came before. It has been at least eight centuries since the last cataclysm with very little record of the time before surviving.
Now you’re probably thinking, ‘What about gods?’. Lucky for you we thought of this! Oidhre was created by a lone god. Very little, if anything, is known about this entity. What is known is that a storm of asteroids rained down on the planet (as they do) during the first cataclysm. In trying to protect and salvage what they could this god was broken in two. It would follow that at each event that nearly broke the world the god was further shattered. Now there remain nine shards of this first god. They exist as aspects of ideals, typically not presenting as humanoid, beast, or machine. Collectively these divine entities are called the Shards of Divinity. Which divine aspect one worships is dependent on individual interpretation of the idea represented by a shard.
