The Starfall Disruption

"And then it all came a falling down. Like a torch"

Before the stars fell

It had been 2 year since the defeat of the dragon on The Isles of Tychis when history changed.

Peace had been returned to the island, and the rest of the continent could sleep safely, knowing that the dangers of the frontier would lie dormant for another night. Some of the adventurers stayed, and others sought the embrace of the mainland again.

Scholars believe, that before the Starfall, only a handful of the places we know of now existed. We can only speculate what may have been before, so it will be largely skipped over.

What we do know however, is that there were some events before the so called Starfall.

Astronomers had observed several changes in the night sky. The constellation of the archer had seemingly lost its arrow, and the widow had lost her tears. This was of great interest to the sages, but their constant speculation and theorization did not prepare them for what was to come.

The Starfall

People from all over the continent watched in awe… and in despair. It was night on the continent, yet there was not one mortal asleep. There were two new suns in the sky. One grand, burning bright with blue fire from a fraying weave. Another was broad, like a great flaming blanket falling upon the land. These two great blazing masses smashed into the land at the same time. And for a moment, until the air was filled with a booming cacophony, there was total silence.

We still do not know exactly what happened at that moment. Histories, memories, texts, records, and all evidence of anything existing, changed. Sages are still debating this, but the current theory rules that the stars that fell were some sort of amalgamation of different material planes. It is thought that the star imparted much of its essence into our world, fusing together into one. This did not go without some violence.

Aftermath

The impact itself is poorly documented but the aftermath was enormous. Most countries heard the blast, and most people who lived in the blast zone still have lasting injuries, mainly partial deafness. Specifically people in Bu-Birkata were affected by this initial blast. The small town of Domos, on the western frontier, was also greatly damaged by the rain of small flaming rocks. Yet in the 40 years since the rebuilding and healing effort the most superficial damage to the people and the cities has been mended. The real damage done was to reality itself.

History itself was changed greatly, and the area around the impact has grown magically unstable. Pockets of wild magic, random extra-planar portals, and other calamities can often be found around the crashsite near Avanar and The Lysmåne Provinces. The Lysmånes have however used the new found reservoirs of water as opportunities for land reclamation, as they’ve often done in their history.

The crashsite in the western frontier however is less magically compromised. Next to the occasional aberration or transmuted creature, it has mostly turned into a barren swamp.
