Description

The start of underwater settlements was with shorelines to cultivate crops and harvest wood, but now these objects can be replaced by objects that are found underwater. Still the above water settlement stands, now used to repair ships and trade with humanoids.
The architecture of the island is based on docks from various countries and the underwater influence. Imagine a lovely northlander dock house with the sea turtle scutes as a roof.

Key Information

The island "Aitauga" has been used by fisherman for generations to trade with the local merfolk population. Tales of aquatic spirits are therefor very common in Yu-shu's mythology with most being grounded in forgotten history.

Refuge

Merfolk are well known to allow everyone to live around them, helping them set up life and giving food when times are tough. During the many wars on the main continent, this place has been a large refugee camp for anyone that needs shelter.

Now that the town is under Wehiké control, people are fully checked over with magic to see if they aren't criminals on the run. The merfolk protest it since everyone here comes for improvement of their lives.

Lore

Glaciovolcano

The mountain "Hinirage" is a large caldera volcano with a large glacier on top of the summit from the cold temperatures on the top of the mountain. While the island chain is relatively close to the equator, it is far enough to keep a consistant freezing temperature.

In recent years, the volcano is becoming increasingly active melting the center into a warm lake. The tritons of Flyan have been working hard on reversing it back into a glacier and cool the mountain back down into domancy.

Mudskippers

Description

The Gigi Lendir (slime teeths) as they are called by Leonin are eel-eating merrow that live in a caldera lake south of the Aegis eastern active stratovolcano. They are curious beyond their own beliefs, they will venture along coast lines to fight anything they see and befriend it, if strong enough. Pirates and explorers have become friendly with these merrows due to their prepared nature. The southern islands have become a standard stop for pirates to make repairs in trade for tall tales, a resource these merrow love more than anything.

If you ever see a merrow walking with humans or on a ship, chances are high it is one of these curious lot.

Key Information

The island of Hiruva has two settlements on it; the leonin fisher village and the freshwater lake of Sclucii which holds Merrow.

While both civilizations have tolerated each other for years on end, the occational war does happen frequently leaving badblood a constant factor. Neither settlement is able to gain an upper hand with both creatures having a strong disadvantage outside of their respective territories.

Myths

On the island is an interesting creature which might seem standard, the bulette. While standard on the main continent, on an isolated island like Hiruva it is an odd sight.

It is believed that the god Saline had created these land sharks for the merrows to use as mounts outside of water. But their constant failures against the leonins angered the land sharks into the aggressive beasts we see today.

Inhabitants Phase Newt

Oddities Planar chaos
Geysers
Soda lake¹

Soda lake¹

All waters can be either acidic or base, with water staying close to being neutral. These soda lakes are more based with a composition that is closer to ammonia than water. The pH value (Measurement of acidity) reaches around 9 to 11 around these hotspots.

Description

The third island of the Aegis islands is Zanzar. It has a tropical desert climate hydrothermal activity with many of the waters being soda lakes. Mud geysers flow the decaying stench around the island keeping the bird population to a minimum. Zanzar is one of the least livable places around the continent even compared to the north, only the Phase newts who are specialised for this island can live here.

Key Information

On the sulphur-filled hotsprings of Zanzar are exploited by the Newts to trade with Avanari merchant ships. Depending on which element the Newt possesses, it might wander over the obsidian buttes¹ if it has durable feet or if it can survive the acids of the lakes then it will harvest waterbugs.

Obsidian butte¹

Obsidian butte is a large deposit of obsidian on a hill that is very steep near the edges with a relatively flat top. These hills are very sharp and jagged, allowing the Phase newts to make primitive weapons and pickaxes.

Myths and Lore

Even though it isn’t visible from standing on the island, but from the perspective of a Sphinx¹, this island is very special. The ethereal plane is almost perfectly aligned on this island, making the influence of the elemental chaos very strong. When strong winds come over the land, these are most likely from the other elemental planes or at least went through it.
During these winds, small creatures called mephits² can fly through and spread chaos over the land. To no problem for the newts since they grew to feast on these elemental imps giving them elemental powers. Some can even switch between elements.

Even if the The Starfall Disruption happened upon the world, this island has had the planar distortion before the cosmic event.

Sphinx¹

Sphinx have the ability as a truesight creature to look into the ethereal plane.

Mephits²

Mephits are elemental imps that are a mixture of several elements. They are incredibly weak compared to the creature of the elemental plane, but here they have a sizable power.

Inhabitants Triton
Tortle

Oddities Bioluminescence

Description

The last island on the Aegis islands has a Sahaugin breeding ground which makes it a perfect place for the tritons to keep a tally on how many sahaugin spawn from this region. While the tritons are constantly attempting to thin out the sahuagin bloodlines, on the surface is a peaceful cilization of tortles trying their best to keep food coming. Picking food and enjoying the everlasting sunshine of the islands equator sun.

Key Information

On the island of "Mahentae" isn't much to see except sporadic tree life and the occational bushes. On the island is a sizable community of a tortles living their lives harvesting small crops and farming crabs. These foods aren't for the tortles to eat, it is there contribution to the Flyan Enclave and their mission to save the ocean.

The tortles themselves eat either washed up or fish trapped jellyfish. For most creatures they are inedible but these tortles have made a natural resilience to the poison.

Myths

Red Tides

Every two months around the island is an algae bloom of something called Sea Shock. A bioluminescent algae springs up which colours the waves in a ominous red glow. While this aids the tortles in keeping aquatic monsters at bay, it is difficult occurance for the tritons that live near the shoreline.

Everytime the monster of Playa da Fausolia "Aserak" fights in a battle the sea is coloured in blood red. Since the waters here are commonly red by the algae, most creatures avoid the area in fear of the monster having its lair here.
